Transition Newmarket
DO YOU WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Across the UK and the world, volunteers are coming together to form 'Transition Towns' which aim to tackle two of the biggest challenges of the 21st Century - Peak Oil* and Climate Change**.
Transition Towns bring together local communities and make them more resilient - e.g. by increasing local food production and helping people to become more energy-efficient.
Some people in Newmarket (UK) are interested in starting up a Transition Newmarket group, but we need volunteers to assist in running it. So if you think you could help, please e-mail transitionnewmarket@gmail.com
If you are unable to help at the moment but would be interested in hearing more about us in the future, let us know via the same address.

* Peak Oil is the point at which world oil production goes into permanent decline. Although it will not run out for many decades after this, it will become increasingly scarce and expensive, with serious consequences for our way of life. Estimates as to when peak oil will occur range from a few years from now, to 20 or 30 years from now - although some suggest it may already have happened. Even the US military has warned that there could be serious shortages of oil by 2015. For more information on peak oil, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peak_oil
